RISE

Rocketry Introduction for Student Education (RISE) was founded in fall of 2017 to create an inclusive and welcoming club environment for new members while educating members on the basics of rocket engineering and the design process with a strong foundation in safety. The program also facilitates a smooth transition into one of Rocket Project's teams and promotes mentorship between new and experienced club members.

  • As of Spring of 2019, >75% of active members in Rocket Project have participated in the RISE program.
  • No experience is expected and there is no cost to participate.
  • Nearly 100 students participated in each of the first 2 years of the program and >50% remain as active members in Rocket Project.

Prometheus

Prometheus is our new member hybrid rocket competition team and is the natural pathway for members after completing RISE. In two academic quarters (~6 months), the team designs and builds a hybrid powered rocket to compete with at the Spaceport America Cup (formerly IREC).

  • The team competes each year in the Spaceport America Cup.
  • In the first 3 years, over 10 static fires, 2 hybrid launches, and 5 solid test launches have been conducted.
  • The training ground for many students to work on the larger and more complex liquid system.

Ares

Ares is our flagship liquid bi-propellant rocket team. The goal of the project is to cultivate experienced rocket engineers through the design, build, and test of a liquid bi-propellant rocket to 45,000 feet.

  • Our rocket's architecture allows the project to be based around an attainable 1-year deliverable at incredibly low cost for a liquid system.
  • Now holds the record for the highest student-built liquid bi-propellant rocket flown.

Outreach

Community Outreach seeks to inspire the next generation of rocket scientists in our community through fun and engaging activities such as stomp rockets and Kerbal Space Program simmulations.

  • As our project’s aspirations, engagement, and resources have grown, so has our ability to give back to the community.
  • It is our belief that as a collegiate engineering organization we can make the greatest social impact by working with local educators.
  • We have formed a community outreach team dedicated to inspiring youth and promoting the STEM fields by sharing our love of rocketry and engineering.
